ith reference to Admiralty letter .01405 dated

Sth February, I am commanded by y Lords Commissioners of

the Admiralty to transit herewith copy of a telegram which

has been received from the Commander-in-Chief, China,

respecting the contribution of the ong Vong Government

towards the cost of maintenance of the 3 armed launches

"ON LANG IT". "PULVER' and "NCUS".

The Commander-in-Thief, China, has been authorised

to renew the charters on these 3 vessels for a further 12

months. My Lords have, ho ever, reached the conclusion

that They will not be justified in retaining the vessels

beyond this period unless the Covernment of long Tong are

willing to hear the entire cost of hire and maintenance and

pay of the Chinese personnel together with half the cost of

the Naval "ersonnel from 1029 onwards.
